Rick Allen, President
Rick brings an extensive background in business and ministry to his role as MedSend’s president. With a degree in finance and marketing from Temple University, he spent 25 years as a corporate executive, where he was instrumental in the rapid growth and turn-around of several high-tech businesses. In addition, Rick serves as Campus Pastor of a multi-site church in Stamford, Connecticut.
Sheldon “Shelly” Wermes, Chief Development Officer
Shelly is a business development specialist who has started two successful companies and has more than 25 years of experience in working with business and ministry leaders. A Rochester Institute of Technology graduate, Shelly served as a U.S. Army Infantry Lieutenant in Vietnam. Shelly is active in his church and chairs the board of Christian Mission for the United Nations Community. He is licensed as an Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor.
Randy Carey, Development Officer
Randy is a retired military officer who resides in Wheaton, IL. He is passionate about missions and helping those called of God get to where they need to be to answer that call. Contact him if you are interested in learning more about medical missions, biblical principals on money management, or kingdom work.
William “Bill” McDonald, Development Officer
Bill brings to MedSend 25 years of experience in development and marketing, most recently with The Christian Broadcasting Network. He has committed most of his adult life to working with young people through participation in youth ministry. He and his wife have four children and live in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Daniel Fountain, MD, Executive Vice President
Dr. Fountain is a general surgeon who served as a medical missionary in Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) from 1961- 1996. Dr. Fountain is a recognized expert in Health Development and he has authored books that focus on the subject from a Christian perspective. A co-founder of MedSend, he has been a fellow at the Billy Graham Center in Wheaton, IL, and is director of the Center for Global Health at King College's Peek School of Mission.
David Topazian, DDS, MSc, MBA, President Emeritus
Dr. Topazian is a retired Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon and a co-founder of MedSend. Dr. Topazian has extensive experience in missions, having served on more than 40 short-term mission projects around the world. In 1988, he joined TEAM as a full-time missionary and pastored a church in Venezuela for six years, after which TEAM seconded him to MedSend. Dr. Topazian served as MedSend's President and CEO until he retired in 2007.

Charles Kelley, MD, Chairman
Dr. Kelley is Associate Professor Emeritus of Medicine, Indiana University, School of Medicine. Dr. Kelley serves on the board of the Indiana University-Moi University Consortium. He is a past trustee for the Christian Medical & Dental Associations and is on the board of MAP International.
Robert Reich, PA-C, MSPAS, Secretary
Rob is a former MedSend grant recipient and Physician Assistant specializing in HIV medicine. He and his wife Esther live alongside of the urban poor whom he serves at Esperanza Health Center in Philadelphia, PA. He is actively involved in promoting lay health education in his community. As the son of missionaries, he has spent significant time living outside the U.S.
Lawrence Hutchins, Treasurer
Mr. Hutchins was a senior vice president of investments with A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc., where he ran one of the firm’s largest branch offices. While at A.G. Edwards, he built a substantial investment practice that serves individuals and corporations, as well as many Christian organizations. Mr. Hutchins has served on the board of an international mission and on several church and local mission boards.

Karen Borgman
Mrs. Borgman, a former public school teacher and Christian educator and administrator, has served on mission boards and on short term mission trips to Panama, Central Asia, Western Asia and the Ukraine.
Kenneth Chrisman
Mr. Chrisman, an active Christian layman, is a Vice President at Sealed Air Corporation where he specializes in leadership development and business optimization.
Janet Crow, MD
Dr. Crow is Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, University of California, San Diego. She has worked extensively among poor and undeserved patients in the U.S. and along the U.S.-Mexico border and has mentored medical students and residents who have an interest in both short- and long-term missions.
Douglas A. Drevets, MD, DTM&H
Dr. Drevets is Professor and Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is involved in biomedical research, education, and clinical care of patients including those with HIV/AIDS. Doug is active locally in Young Life and has participated in several short-term mission trips.
Patricia Kissell, RN, PhD
Dr. Kissell is Dean, School of Nursing and Health Sciences, at Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho. She has authored a number of publications and has served on the boards of Nurses Christian Fellowship and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, as well as the National Board of Overseas Missions of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
Robin Nichols, CPA
Mrs. Nichols is CFO for Eagle Hospital Physicians in Atlanta GA. She has over 15 years experience managing healthcare systems, including seven years of public accounting.

Randy Alcorn, DD
Dr. Alcorn is the founder and director of Eternal Perspective Ministries (EPM). Prior to starting EPM, he served as a pastor for fourteen years. He has spoken around the world and has taught on the adjunct faculties of Multnomah Bible College and Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He is a best-selling author of 27 books.
Thomas Hale, Jr., MD and Cynthia Hale, MD, MPH
Drs. Tom and Cynthia Hale served for 25 years as medical missionaries in Nepal. Cynthia is a pediatrician, public health educator and concert pianist, while Tom is a surgeon and the author of a number of highly acclaimed books on missionary life. Tom has also written a New Testament translated into a variety of languages, including English, Spanish, French, Marathi, Sinhalese, Filipino, and Yoruba. Since returning to the United States in 1996, the Hales have continued to speak and work on behalf of medical missions.

C. Everett Koop, MD, Sc.D., is a pediatric surgeon and former Surgeon General of the United States of America.
David Stevens, MD, MAv
Dr. David Stevens is CEO of the Christian Medical & Dental Associations, the nation’s largest faith-based organization of doctors. Prior to this, he served as medical director of a Christian relief organization and as executive officer and medical superintendent of Tenwek Hospital in Kenya. Board-certified in family practice, Dr. Stevens is an author and a Fellow of the Biotechnology Policy Council of the Wilberforce Forum.
